Scout 4D, by S7 Outdoors, Inc. Last updated: September 18, 2026

Scout 4D is a hunting application for iPhone. This policy explains what the app collects, why, where it goes, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not survived.

The short version. Your exact hunting locations are yours. They live on your phone and in your own account record. No other Scout 4D user can see where your spots are. We do not sell spot-level data, ever. Nothing you record is contributed to any shared or scientific dataset unless you turn that on yourself.

1. Who we are

S7 Outdoors, Inc., a Delaware corporation. Questions: matt@s7outdoors.com

2. What Scout 4D collects

Account information. An email address and sign-in credentials, so your data follows you to a new phone. Handled by our authentication provider. We never see your password.

Location. Scout 4D uses precise location to show where you stand, to record a walk, to rank nearby spots, and to compute shot solutions. With your permission it also uses location in the background, so a walk keeps recording and wind-shift alerts keep working with the phone in your pocket. Background use ends when the hunt does.

Hunt observations you create. Waypoints, logs and observations you record — including exact coordinates and the conditions attached to them: time, weather, wind, pressure, moon, cover, terrain. This is the heart of the app. It is what makes your own Scout 4D sharper over time.

Camera and photos. If you use Field Judge or hang a trophy on your wall, Scout 4D uses the camera or the photographs you choose. Those images are handled for that purpose.

Motion. Barometric pressure, used to detect the weather fronts that shift wind during a hunt.

Diagnostics. When you close a 3D world, and after an unexpected crash, Scout 4D sends us a short technical report — how big the world was, how fast it drew, how much memory it used, and the device model — carrying a random installation identifier so we can tell one phone's reports from another's. These reports do not contain your location, your waypoints, your observations, your name, or your email. They describe what the software was doing, not where you were hunting.

3. What Scout 4D does not do

4. Where your data lives

In two places: on your phone, in a private database that works with no signal, and in a cloud record scoped to your account. Maps, terrain and the 3D world work offline once downloaded, which means most of what Scout 4D does happens without sending anything anywhere.

Because we hold exact locations, we treat security as part of the product. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

5. Who else is involved

Scout 4D relies on a small number of outside providers, each seeing only what it needs: a cloud authentication and database provider (accounts and your account record), a cloud storage and computing provider (map and terrain data, diagnostic reports), map rendering libraries, and public weather services, which receive an approximate location in order to return a forecast for it. Payment is handled by our payment processor; we never see or store your card number.

These providers act for us, under contract, and may not use your information for their own purposes.

6. Wildlife science — only if you turn it on

Scout 4D's long-term purpose is to improve both hunter success and the public understanding of game populations. If observation data is ever contributed toward that work, it happens only after you explicitly opt in, and only in a form where the exact location has been removed and your identity is not attached. Sharing is off until you say yes — it is never inferred from creating an account, from using the app, or from a setting you never saw — and you can turn it back off at any time without losing a single feature.

As of the date of this policy, no observation data is contributed to any shared pool.

7. Legal requests

We will disclose data if we are legally required to. If a government agency asks for your hunting locations, we will require valid legal process, and we will tell you unless the law forbids it.

8. Your choices

Turn off location, camera or photo permission at any time in iOS Settings — the parts of the app that need them will stop working, which is the trade. Ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to matt@s7outdoors.com. Delete your account and we delete your record and the observations in it. Depending on where you live you may have a legal right to those things; we honor the requests either way.

9. Children

Scout 4D is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

10. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
